University Accreditation

The University of New Haven is a coeducational, nonsectarian, independent institution of higher learning, chartered by the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut, United States of America.

The University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc.), and has been since 1948.

The University underwent its routine comprehensive evaluation in November 2020. Following the team's positive recommendations, accreditation was extended for the maximum allowable ten years, through 2030.

The University of New Haven – Riyadh Campus was approved by NECHE in March 2026.

Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Commission indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied through a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.

Accreditation by the Commission is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of every course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates. Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution.

Saudi National Accreditation

In addition to U.S. institutional accreditation through NECHE, the University of New Haven – Riyadh Campus is committed to meeting the standards set by Saudi Arabia's national quality assurance framework.

Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) – National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA)

ETEC is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's independent authority responsible for evaluating and accrediting educational and training institutions. Through NCAAA, it sets the quality standards for higher education institutions operating in the Kingdom.

The University of New Haven – Riyadh Campus will seek NCAAA institutional and program accreditation in due course. Achieving NCAAA accreditation will confirm that the Riyadh Campus meets Saudi national quality standards alongside its existing U.S. accreditation, giving students and employers confidence that their qualification is recognized both domestically and internationally.

Status: To be pursued following campus launch

Graduates from AACSB-accredited schools are recognized by top employers, other universities, and recruiters across the globe, and generally receive higher, more competitive salaries.
